It is a dream for breakfast on my Banana Oatmeal Bake Cake, Cinnamon Rolls, Coffee Cake, or to add some dinner time excitement to your plain vanilla cake! This Recipe has got you covered! It’s simple, fun, elegant, and an absolutely tasty frosting recipe that will have you in awe and guests asking for the recipe!

This frosting has lovely brown flecks throughout, giving it a stunning look on a cake! It also makes a perfect frosting for a tiered cake because you get to easily disguise any crumbs from your cake; it’s a win win!

🎉 Let’s Get Mixing!

Ingredients:

Butter: I always use organic unsalted butter for baking and cooking. It provides the perfect base to add any flavors to it for sweet or savory applications.

Cream Cheese: I used an organic, non-whipped, unsweetened, cream cheese brick. It is important to not get the pre-whipped cream cheese as the ratios would be off for the finished frosting.

Powdered Sugar: I used organic powdered sugar which is just organic sugarcane finely ground with some organic tapioca starch

Cinnamon: Any finely ground cinnamon will do for this recipe, I used organic Saigon Cinnamon

Vanilla: I used pure Mexican vanilla extract for this frosting, but use whatever vanilla you have on hand. A tip when shopping for vanilla is to look for the word “Pure” on the label, as it is as clean as possible. You can also make your own homemade vanilla extract with organic vanilla beans!

Milk or Cream: I used organic whole milk for this recipe but you can just as easily use heavy cream or your favorite non-dairy milk

Salt: Any salt will do, I use pink Himalayan sea salt for a little boost of nutrients

Try to always use organic ingredients when possible. Avoiding the chemicals, added hormones, and pesticides that get put into our food supply is oh so important.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 8oz brick cream cheese
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Take your cream cheese out of the fridge to soften
  • Start melting your butter in a pan on the stove. Once melted, start stirring it over medium heat every couple of seconds. You will see a white foam coming from the top of the butter, that’s your water boiling off. The butter will turn quiet and start to develop brown bits on the bottom of the pan, when that happens your butter is done!
  • Add cinnamon to the hot brown butter and transfer the finished butter into a mixing bowl and let cool for about 10 minutes
  • Once cooled, add your slightly cool brick of cream cheese and get your hand mixer and start beating the fats together. (it will look broken for a few minutes, but trust the process and keep beating, it will come together)
  • Once beaten and airy, add your salt, vanilla, and powdered sugar, and beat until fluffy

Notes

This frosting is on the tangier side to let the cream cheese shine, but if you prefer a sweeter frosting feel free to add more powdered sugar and make it taste your own!
