Top 11 Essential Oils To Boost Your Immune System

In today’s day in age, having a strong immune system is no easy task. While a balanced diet, regular exercise, and quality sleep are all essential, many people are now turning to nature for additional support.

I first got into essential oils for relaxation and sleep benefits and I found them to be an absolute game changer! I have since purchased books, studied their benefits on how to use them properly, and the benefits of each oil and what they are exactly.

Essential oils are the natural oils that come from different flowers, plants, and trees that are known for their therapeutic properties. While most of them smell beautiful, they have a much greater value than just their pretty scent. Below are the top eleven of the best essential oils that have been linked to having a stronger immune system.

To make your own essential oils blend:

You generally want a 2% to 3% dilution of essential oils to carrier oil (olive, almond, castor, jojoba, coconut, and grapeseed are all popular carrier oils). This means per 1 ounce of carrier oil you want about 12 to 15 drops of pure essential oils. (Cut the amount of essential oils in half if you are intending to use it for children).

My personal favorite immune boosting essential oil blend has been around since the 15th century.

Five Thieves oil:

This renowned oil blend is a mix of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary. This oil blend has been around since the 15th century’s Bubonic Plague. This oil got the name “Thieves Oil” from those who applied it during the black death, they stayed healthy, and stole goods from those who had passed away. The story is a little dark, but it’s a true testament to the effectiveness of essential oils.

You can have fun and use any of the below oils together to create your own personal immune supporting essential oil blend.

1. Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)

2. Eucalyptus Oil (Eucalyptus globulus)

3. Oregano Oil (Origanum vulgare)

 4. Lemon Oil (Citrus limon)

 5. Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita)

 6. Frankincense Oil (Boswellia serrata)

 7. Thyme Oil (Thymus vulgaris)

8. Lavender Oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

9. Grapefruit Oil (Citrus paradisi)

10. Cinnamon Oil ( Cinnamon Cassia)

11. Ginger Oil (Zingiber officinale)

How to Use Essential Oils:

When incorporating essential oils into your wellness routine, consider the following methods:

#1 Diffuse

Use a diffuser to disperse essential oils into the air, creating a fragrant and therapeutic atmosphere. (If you live in a home with pets, babies or young children, make sure you investigate first if that oil is safe to diffuse)

#2 Topical Application

Add essential oils of your choice to a carrier oil (such as coconut, jojoba oil, olive, almond, or castor) and apply to pulse points or areas of concern. (Always conduct a patch test first to prevent irritation.)

#3 Inhalation

Inhale directly from the bottle or place a few drops in a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam to benefit from the oils’ properties.

#4 Baths:

Add a few drops of essential oil to a warm bath for relaxation while also experiencing immune benefits.

Final Thoughts:

Having a strong immune system  involves living a healthy lifestyle, making nutritional food choices, getting adequate sleep, and reducing your stress whenever possible. Adding the  appropriate use of essential oils is just another way to boost your immune system and aid in relaxation.

Before applying any of these oils be sure to do a patch test to determine any possible allergies.

By embracing the power of nature’s botanicals, you can help fortify your immune system and promote overall health and well-being.

Disclaimers:

Always consult healthcare professionals or qualified aromatherapists when incorporating essential oils into your routine, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or may become pregnant, or if you have specific health conditions.
